Mold Infestation in an Affton Powder Room
The constant leak and the cardboard backing on the drywall nurtured the dormant mold spores, and they began to spread quickly within the wall. The renter noticed a funny smell from under the bathroom sink. His landlord contacted SERVPRO of Affton/Webster Groves to investigate the problem. We discovered the mold proliferation and after conferring with the owner we removed and discarded everything in this bathroom down to the walls. We remediated the mold infestation as seen in the second photo. We had already taken down the polyethylene sheeting we used to isolate our work from the garage area to prevent any cross-contamination. Of course, we first fixed the leak and finally we sprayed an anti-fungal product to inhibit future growth.
