Webster Groves' Storm Attack on a Home
The broken window allowed storm-driven rainwater to cover several rooms and the hallway of this home in Wester Groves. The renters were away for the weekend, and the one inch of water was enough to ruin the carpet and the padding. The baseboards were synthetic, not made of porous wood, and did not absorb the standing water. We discarded the flooring in a prescribed manner and then vacuumed out the remaining water before capturing the moisture with dehumidifiers. We sprayed to minimize the onset of mold or microbes, and then a day later, verified through the use of a moisture meter and thermal hygrometer, that the storm damaged areas was high and dry, back to customary levels of relative humidity and indoor air quality.
